TPE Owned Sites

Lands owned by TPE are permanently protected. The organization is committed to protecting and managing the lands we own in perpetuity. While we do engage contractors and hire people directly in some cases, the majority of the management of our lands is done by volunteers, connecting people from all walks of life to the land.

These sites are most favored, as the permanent protection assures our restoration work will be carried out in perpetuity. Nearly all of these sites are open to the public. There are some restrictions and prohibited activities. Our preserves are established for the preservation and conservation of nature, especially critical habitat for rare and declining species and ecosystems.  Therefore, only certain limited activities are allowed.  These may vary from site to site depend upon the funding sources and management objectives.  If an activity is not explicitly allowed, it is prohibited.  Please check specific site webpages below for site details.

NOTE: There are sites that are worthy of management despite no land protection through ownership or easement. Such works preserves the quality of the site, and hopefully some protection can be attained in the future. Some of these sites are listed under chapter webpages.
